Course Curriculum
This course is organized into 24 modules across 11 core competencies, giving learners a clear, structured path from start to finish. Each module includes a video lesson, hands on activities or skills practice, and a short quiz to reinforce key concepts and support real learning, not just completion. The program is designed to be completed in about 14 weeks, while still allowing learners to move at a pace that fits their life and responsibilities. In addition to the course content, learners gain access to a virtual learning community for connection, support, and shared learning throughout their journey.

Is Umemba Health an approved provider of CHW Certification?
Yes! Umemba Health Academy is a Texas DSHS-approved provider of CHW and CHW Instructor certification and continuing education. (Certificate #64, Expiration 3/2027). Our courses and trainings may also qualify for Category II CECH for Certified Health Education Specialists and towards AAMA continuing education hours for Medical Assistants.
I don't live in Texas, can I still participate in your training programs?
Yes! Our courses are virtual and can be taken from any U.S. state, even overseas!
How long is the course and how long will I have access to it?
The revised course is 180 hours (140 instructional hours + 40 field experience hours) and can typically be completed within 16 weeks. You will have access to the course for 140 days (20 weeks).
How do I register for the course?
After payment, you will get immediate access to the course. (If your employer or a third-party is paying for your course, you will be manually enrolled into the course after payment has been received).
What is the cost of the course and are payment plans available?
The total cost of the Online CHW Certification Course is $600 when paid in full or two installments of $350 each.
