What is the “Virtual Instructor-Led Training” Workshop? Virtual Instructor Led-Training (or v-ILT) is training that is delivered in a virtual environment rather than in a traditional classroom setting. The training is delivered in real-time by an instructor, just as you would expect in a classroom, but is usually delivered via a video conferencing platform, like Zoom.
The "v-ILT" Workshop will provide an introduction and overview to the principles and techniques of Virtual Instructor-Led Training to prepare you to engage learners in the virtual classroom.
Who Should Attend? Community Health Workers, CHW Supervisors, CHW Program Managers, and CHW Instructors. (Instructors from other backgrounds are also encouraged to attend).

Attendees must be familiar and comfortable with the Zoom platform.

Will continuing education credits be provided for this workshop?
Yes! Umemba Health is a Texas DSHS-approved provider of CHW and CHW Instructor certification and continuing education. (Certificate #64, Expiration 3/2024). Our courses and trainings may also qualify for Category II CECH for Certified Health Education Specialists and towards AAMA continuing education hours for Medical Assistants.
Will this workshop teach me how to open my own CHW Training Academy?
No. This course is meant to provide a framework for getting started with training CHWs. Starting a CHW Training Academy is a much larger endeavor, but we can assist you with that process. What will I be able to do after I complete this training?
Great question! After this workshop, you can use this educational experience to apply to work as a virtual instructor, trainer, or facilitator.
What can I expect out of this workshop?
This workshop will provide techniques on virtual facilitation and how to engage learners in a virtual environment
How is the LIVE workshop different from the Online Course?
The LIVE workshop provides an opportunity for you to ask questions and get answers in real time. The LIVE workshop is interactive and allows the opportunity for you to practice certain skills with guided direction. There is no opportunity to do this with the online course.
What do I need to participate in this workshop?
English proficiency (written and spoken), laptop or computer, reliable high-speed internet/WIFI, webcam, and willingness to commit to the entire 2- hour workshop.
What languages is the workshop offered in?
All courses and workshops are offered in English only at this time.
